Thank you to the Timmins Interact Club for the generous donation of $800.50 collected from their Bottle Drive on January 2, 2023!

This service club with the Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine is a group of youth coming together to connect and have fun while giving back to their community. A few of the members volunteered at the Rotary’s Lobsterfest event last year and got the idea to create the local Interact Club.

The North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation is pleased to have been selected as the recipient for the first fundraiser organized by this newly founded club. The donation will support children and youth in need served by North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services (NEOFACS) through the Christmas Angel Campaign.

“We want to make that little difference,” said Molly Walsh. Molly also shared that at a young age, she knew children who were involved with NEOFACS which led to her desire to give back.

Members of the Interact Club Erica Resetar, Maxim Robinson-Ethier, Molly Walsh, and Kayleigh Bierman dropped off the donation and took time to learn about how their donation will have a positive impact. The club members decided to have 50% of the funds help a family in need and the other 50% of funds assist the basic needs of older youth.

The Interact Club received the support of Full Beard Brewing Co. for the Bottle Drive fundraiser as they offered their location for the community drop-off. The youth also drove around going door-to-door to collect additional donations.

The youth shared that they are most proud of being able to collect enough money to assist a family in need. They are also proud of how, as teenagers, they could come together to better our community and help those in need.

“It is surreal that we made $800.50 in such a short period of time that will have a direct impact on families and youth in our community,” said Kayleigh Bierman.
