COMMUNITY PUTS CHILDREN FIRST BY RESPONDING TO THE “FILL AN AMBULANCE” TOY DRIVE
TIMMINS – On Wednesday, December 12th North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) was presented with approximately 200 toys and a cheque for $1436.18 from the “Fill an Ambulance” toy drive that the Cochrane District EMS and CDSSAB Employees held at Wal-Mart on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
Christmas Wishes helps to provide necessities like food, clothing and gifts to children youth and families in Timmins, Iroquois Fall and Matheson. Some families on our community’s don’t have the financial resources or the means to have a Christmas worth remembering.
“We want to express our appreciation for the generosity and support. The Cochrane District EMS (Emergency Medical Services), the CDSSAB (Cochrane District Social Services staff) and to the community of Timmins have made a major impact on our annual Christmas Wishes campaign. This year’s campaign will help over three hundred local children, youth and families at Christmas time. The funds raised will go towards food vouchers and other items that our youth are in need of.” Said Jennifer Peekhaus, for North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services.
“There are so many requests for donations, especially at this time of the year, but even considering that, the generosity that we saw during the toy drive was truly remarkable. Not only were people generous with toy and cash donations, but also with supportive words and warm wishes. You could truly feel the spirit of the season.” said the volunteer staff members from CDSSAB and Cochrane District EMS commander.
