RESOURCE WORKER
Full-time Position in Kapuskasing and/or Hearst
As a member of the Child Welfare team, your primary responsibilities will be to assist, support, and recruit families to become foster parents and promote Foster Care and Adoption services to the community. The Resource worker is required to assess the suitability of foster and adoptive applicants for children in care, provide standardized training, assess and support Kinship cases and work collaboratively with foster families, Kin Parents, service providers and other professionals to address the service needs of the client. Additional responsibilities include completing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment tools and instruments within the child protection domain, and provide intervention services to children and youth in care and their families.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS):
• A Master’s Degree in Social Work, or a Baccalaureate in Social Work is preferred. A College Diploma in Social Services may be considered along with other relevant university degrees or diplomas deemed suitable by the Executive Director;
• Experience working with children, youth and families is considered an asset;
• Able to interpret and apply relevant legislative requirements including, but not limited to the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and Ministry standards;
• Excellent knowledge of community services, resources, and processes regarding access and referral to services;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as required;
• Must be willing to travel as required;
• Bilingualism (English/French) is required; and
• Must have a valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle.
