Call For Artwork! The New Mentality – Kirkland Lake: Youth Engagement Art Contest

The New Mentality group in Kirkland Lake is seeking youth to submit original artwork in celebration of youth engagement at North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS)!

The Youth Engagement Art Contest is open to all children and youth under the age of 25 years old who reside in the Kirkland Lake area or attend school in Kirkland Lake. The submission deadline is December 20, 2023.

PRIZES

Submissions will be entered in a draw for a chance to win one (1) of (3) prizes of a 74-piece art kit valued at $40.00 each.

SHOWCASE YOUR CREATIVITY!

Participants can choose to have their work featured in a virtual exhibition and displayed in an exhibition hosted at the NEOFACS Kirkland Lake Office.

They can also choose to include their artwork to be considered for upcoming publications or advertisements for The New Mentality group at NEOFACS, as well as on Instagram (@tnm.neofacs).

THEME OF THE CONTEST

The theme is: “Youth We Run the World!”

• We are looking for youth to show us what it means to have youth’s voices being heard and youth being in charge!

The New Mentality – Kirkland Lake Group is hosting an event to give you an opportunity to work on your pieces to submit to the art contest.

• WHEN: Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 4:00 pm.
• WHERE: NEOFACS Kirkland Lake Office (6 Tweedsmuir Road)

Drawing supplies will be available, but you are also welcome to bring your own art supplies.

Snacks and refreshments will be available.

*Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.*

HOW TO SUBMIT

Submission deadline is December 20, 2023!

1. Create a drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, digital art, song, poem, short video, photography or any piece of art that is your medium!
2. For visual art, you can submit your original artwork or capture a digital image of it using a scanner or take a high-resolution photo. When taking a picture, place your art on a flat surface in a well-lit area. Ensure the entire image is captured!
   For spoken, musical art, you can submit an audio file of your poem or song, or a copy of the written text of your poem or lyrics.
   For videos or digital art, you can submit a digital file of your work.
3. Complete the art submission form and tell us a little bit about what inspired you to create your art and how you’d like your art displayed.
