TIMMINS – Thursday March 3, 2016
Timmins youth once again showcased their talents at the third annual Timmins’ Got Talent show, held January 30th 2016 at the Dante Club in Timmins. Performers aged seven to seventeen performed in front of a full house. Nine talented youth took home awards for their all star performances.
The youth were not the only winners from the January 30th event. Each year, Timmins’ Got Talent raises money for different local charities. This year the funds raised went to benefit the Timmins Humane Society and North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation.
On Thursday March 3rd, 2016 Timmins Got Talent presented an $8000.00 cheque to representatives of the North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation.
“This tremendous donation will make it possible for many children and youth to peruse their interests, talents and passions,” said Nick Kuzmich, Chair of the North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation. “We appreciate this donation and recognize all the hard work the Timmins’ Got Talent team put in, to make this event a success.”
“There is an exciting mix of community support and young talent that makes this event so special,” said Timmins’ Got Talent co-director Laurie Dagg-Labine. “We sold many tickets and received several in kind donations to support the silent auction. We had everything from high end flat screen televisions to signed
hockey equipment.”
Generous sponsors including Marc C. Laroche, Girones Lawyers, Moorea Boutique, Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, the Dante Club, Eclipse Financial Services, Kitchen & Bath, Krazy Krazy, Midnight Express, NDAD, Shoppers Drug Mart and twenty other companies made donations for the event’s silent auction.

North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation was established in 1979 as the Porcupine and District Children’s Foundation, with a mandate to provide financial support to children and youth involved in services from the former Porcupine and District Children’s Aid Society (PDCAS). In 2000, the Children’s Foundation’s scope expanded when the former CAS amalgamated with South Cochrane Child & Youth Services to form Child & Family Services of Timmins and District (CFSTD).
In 2012, the Foundation evolved further as a result of the amalgamation of CFSTD with its sister agencies; from the north, Services familiaux Jeanne Sauvé Family Services and the south, Timiskaming Child and Family Services. The Foundation was subsequently renamed North Eastern Ontario Children’s Foundation.
